You’ve most likely heard the motivational speaker who declares how you can change the world.  Several groups I’ve come across have called themselves “World Changers.”  A few years back a company advertised: “We don’t want to change the world: we just want to change your oil!”  Changing the world has been a theme that began long before you or I showed up on earth.

A few questions to consider: Can one person really change the world?  Is it possible that one human being – maybe even you – has the power within them to bring a change that affects the whole planet?  There may be a few people throughout history that have or will bring a change that is felt by everyone alive.  But here’s one thing I’m sure of: Each of us can change the world for at least one other person!  It’s important that we never underestimate how much impact we might have on another individual.

There have been several people in my life who have brought large and lasting change to my world.  If it wasn’t for their influence upon me, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.  In some cases it’s been a few words that were spoken at the right time.  In other cases it’s been individuals who I had a relationship with for many years, and the ongoing influence they had on my life drew my closer to God & helped me to fulfill what He had planned for me.

The Bible tells us not to underestimate the affect we can have on those in our sphere of influence (see 2 Corinthians 10:13-16).  You may not be able to influence people in foreign lands, but I’ll bet you have several you can influence in your home, at your school, on your job, at your church, and everywhere else you go.  We have been put here to impact lives for God.  Let’s not take that lightly.  Let’s be the most godly influence we can be in the lives of those we touch today!
