We all consult someone or something when making decisions.  The word “consult” means to seek the advice or opinion of.  When it comes to making decisions about your commitment to God, direction for your life, church involvement, family, finances, relationships, career, and anything else, whose advice and opinion are you seeking.

So often people make decisions based on input from unwise sources.  If you’re receiving counsel about your marriage from someone who’s been divorced five times or input about money from someone who can’t balance their checkbook, chances are real good that the input you’re getting is real bad!  Sometimes we simply make decisions based on what we’ve concluded to be true from the input we’ve received throughout our lives, without really thinking about whether our conclusions are correct.

God is far wiser than you or me!  In the Bible we’re told, “The Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding” (see Proverbs 2:6).  God wants to give you wisdom and input that will help your life.  I encourage you to be quick to go to Him and His Word with the major – and even the minor – decisions you face.  His counsel is free of charge and it’s the best you’re going to get.  He even wrote it down so we wouldn’t misunderstand it!  I hope you’ll look to the Bible to give you direction for decisions you’re facing today.
