Have you noticed how much society and the world around you wants you to focus only on what you see?  This is especially true when it comes to your own life.  The message is: “Looking good is far more important than actually being good.” This message is constantly communicated through the internet, television, radio, movies, billboards, magazines, and every other means possible.

Apparently God doesn’t agree with this outward-focus priority. This is clearly evident in 1 Samuel 16:7 where we’re told, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”  God isn’t focusing on your hair, your body, your clothes, the car your drive or the home you live in, to determine what kind of person you are.  He sees beyond all that and goes right to the condition of your heart.

Most of us spend quite a bit of time each day making sure our outward appearance is at its best.  Do you spend any time preparing your heart to be at its best?  If you’ll take time each day to thank God for who He is, to thank Him for all He’s done for you, to read the Bible, and to meditate on His promises to you, you’ll soon experience a change of heart that can greatly affect your life.  View life as God does, and have the same priorities that He has.  By doing so, you’ll live as He desires for you to live.
